by Katy Thorbahn
We need two Project Managers to join our growing team.
Shiny is a strategic creative services agency based in Wilmington, DE. We are focused on helping commoditized financial services brands break through by creating ruthlessly customer-centric creative that moves people to action and drives business results. We work across digital and traditional touchpoints, and both B2B and B2C.
We’re looking for two Project Managers that can help us deliver great work and help take it to the next level. Both roles are full time on one of our largest accounts.
The Project Manager (PM) reports to Shiny’s Director of Operations (Dir of Ops.)
Project Manager Job Description
The PM is the person who keeps projects on track in terms of timing and cost, and ensures the Shiny team is set up to successfully deliver against agreed-upon deliverables. The PM is also acutely aware of the profitability of projects and works to ensure that the agency is appropriately compensated for its work effort. The PM is both a coordinator of efforts and an astute problem solver who can see potential roadblocks and remove them for the remainder of the Shiny team to be successful in their work.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Estimating — The PM is responsible for the creation of cost estimates for all assigned projects, and then to review and have those estimates approved by the Client Service team and Dir of Ops.
- Scheduling — The PM is responsible for creating schedules for all assigned projects taking into account reasonable turnaround times and work effort based on the project estimate. This includes maintaining schedules as things change and ensuring that all team members are aware of when deliverables are due.
- Project Scoping and Proposals — The PM is the lead for the creation of Scopes of Work (SOWs) and financial proposals that go to the client for approval. This includes documenting all assumptions used in the creation of the cost and schedule, flagging any work that is out of scope, and ensuring that all necessary legal language is in the documents prior to client signature.
- Project Creation and Management— The PM is responsible for creating all new projects based on the our process (The Shiny Method), including opening project codes for time tracking; setting up projects in all applicable project management software; and managing the archiving and closure of projects once they are complete.
- Management of Projects—The PM is responsible for ensuring that all activities included in the SOW are delivered on time and on budget. This includes ensuring that internal reviews of work in progress happen; setting up all client review meetings with the client; and playing an active role in client discussions (both presentations and via phone/email) related to project timing and scope.
- Financial Management — The PM plays a critical role in ensuring that Shiny is profitable. This includes pricing work correctly based on work effort; identifying when Change Orders are needed, drafting them, and getting them signed by the client; and handling monthly revenue and invoicing projections for assigned accounts.
- Process and Tools — The PM works closely with the Dir of Ops in ensuring that Shiny is always using the most efficient process possible and is leveraging tools that help drive productivity and decrease unnecessary redundant or low value tasks.
- Client Communications —The PM is the primary communicator of information regarding timing, costs, and deliverables to clients.
